Ich hab da ein Problem mit deiner Beschreibung, so viel ich weiß ist "life" der Phasenleiter (niemals geerdet), neutral der Nulleiter (Neutralleiter) und ground oder earth der Schutzleiter.
"neutral" ist natürlich immer geerdet, also gleichzeitig ground, da man aber den Stecker auch verdreht einführen kann, hat man den Schutzleiter extra geschaffen.
In Altbauten ist es ja auch so, dass man nur Nulleiter und Phasenleiter hat und in der Steckdose den Schutzkontakt an den Nulleiter mitanklemmt, der Nulleiter fungiert also als Nulleiter und als Schutzleiter, das geht natürlich nur so lange es eine unveränderliche Installation ist.

I dont have the same press as you mine is 12in.x16in. and 350 watts, but the temperature is not good to say, because you should heat the press 5-10 minutes and put the paper into it, then switch off and dry the paper, after that make the same procedure.
You can also let it working if it does not make problems, e.g. waves in paper, because your one does not have so much watts as mine.
