Hi there,
I’ve just smashed my old thermometer.
But I’ve still got those three Jobo colour thermometers, so I thought it wouldn’t be a problem.
Except they’re showing 16.8°C, 18.8°C and 19.4°C in the same beaker – oh, sorry...
Big question: is there a quick-and-dirty solution to work out which of the three is the most accurate? – I realise it doesn’t really matter as long as I always use the same thermometer.
But given the rather significant deviation between these ‘precision’ devices, I’d rather know for sure, just in case next time ‘luck and glass, how easily they break’.
The scales range from 10° to 50°, so ice water won’t do the trick.
Wishing you lovely light,
Frank
Perhaps you could calibrate it using a clinical thermometer from the “first-aid kit”? I think those should be quite accurate between ~37°C and 40°C.
Best regards
Hermann
