Exhibitions featuring purely analogue photos aren’t all that common these days... As I’m the one organising this year’s VFDKV exhibition in Mainz, here’s the official poster and the details:

We’ve also got plenty of music, drinks on the premises are cheap, and of course there’s no admission charge. Open daily from 5 pm Also: 9 June at 8 pm: Australian singer Mijo Biscan 11 June at 8 pm: Singer-songwriter Fritz Streuner with ‘WohlstandsPunkchanson’. A brief report from the front line: - We had about 500 visitors, says the bar team. Surprisingly, some people turned up whom you wouldn’t have expected – 70-year-old amateur photographers in suits with their wives in evening gowns, who were probably expecting lobster canapés and champagne. The food and drink, and the very rustic premises, were different from what they’d expected, but they stayed for a long time. - On top of that, all sorts of people came to gawk at the wet plate photography event in the city centre. For a while, we were worried the police might turn up.

(Yes, I admit, this was taken with a digital camera – I’m a sinner) - After the storm in the evening, the students turned up. I left at 2 am; there were still about 50 people there asking questions about the pictures. I’m getting too old for such orgies :D - Both local daily newspapers are reporting on it. The photographer from the Rhein-Zeitung was commissioned to take analogue photos of the exhibition and did so with great dedication, using an M6 and a Hasselblad. For music lovers, there are three more events at the exhibition; here are a few audio samples... On the 9th, i.e. Thursday, Mijo Biscan from Australia will be performing: YouTube - tvnoir.de - MIJO BISCAN 'Jolene' (RayLa Montagne cover) 11 June at 8 pm. Fritz Streuner | Free music, tour dates, photos, videos For the closing event on Sunday, 12 June, from 6 pm, we have another gig that I’m particularly looking forward to. No one has heard of the band or the singer yet, but the songs have what it takes to become earworms, and the singer has a remarkable voice. Are there any photos available online for people who weren’t in Mainz? Was it even about photos in the first place? I mean, all this constant fussing about technology on all the ‘forum channels’, at least, makes the whole thing seem rather implausible to me when it comes to photos.

The pictures are still hanging on the wall in Mainz until Monday morning. It’s simply one of the defining features of an exhibition that the pictures are physically hanging on the wall and not stored as a virtual pile of pixels on web servers. Quite apart from that, some pictures have nevertheless been published online. I cannot and will not judge what strikes you as credible. In any case, there are exhibits by 21 photographers on display in Mainz. I saw that when I hung up mine. Best regards, Franz
