Hello everyone! It’s all Lambrecht’s fault. To get a clearer picture when printing, you need a proper transparent step-grey wedge (my favourite word!). Apparently, these are only available from Stouffer Graphic Arts (www.stouffer.net). I’m going to order one. Anyone who’d like one is welcome to join in; it makes the postage from America more worthwhile. They have transparency and reflection test charts in all sizes. Just drop me an email if you need one. It seems the parts are only available from Stouffer Graphic Arts (www.stouffer.net).

I have the Czech ones; they’re available from Phototec: http://www.phototec.de/advanced_search_result.php?XTCsid=1d0rve57d6hubhdj98mv1ih8f3&XTCsid=1d0rve57d6hubhdj98mv1ih8f3&keywords=graukeil&x=0&y=0 They aren’t calibrated, but they’re still perfectly fine to work with.

Hi Uwe, Yes, I’m familiar with those too. You can certainly work with them, but they only offer half-stops up to 1.95 logD with a total range of 1.8. What’s more, they don’t fit in the 6x7 enlarger. Stuoffer also has suitable ones for medium format in third-stop increments up to 3.0 logD, which leaves plenty of headroom even with the softest filtration. That’s worth the money to me.
