Hello,
I’ve performed an exposure on some Ilford SFX 200 at ISO 400 – does anyone have any tips for developing it?
My main options at the moment are Rodinal and HRX III. Does either of these produce a reasonably fine grain?
I haven’t tried this combination before...
Thanks and best regards,
Beatrix

Rodinal is a good choice for roll films, but for 35mm film I find the grain too coarse with Rodinal, especially as SFX isn’t a particularly fine-grained film to begin with. I’ve had the best results using SFX with Ultrafin SF.
However, I’ve always used Rodinal at 20°C; apparently it produces finer grain at lower temperatures.

I've done a bit more research and I'm going to develop the SFX in D76.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the results...
