...it’s just not much fun, really.
It’s a bit of a mess; you can’t tell straight away when a post was written, and on my 22-inch screen it looks almost tiny.
I don’t really care about the colours, but I thought it was better and clearer before.

Uwe,
Why don’t you just switch to ‘Default’ in the bottom left-hand corner?
It’s a bit of an eyesore colour-wise, but it’s much clearer.
I’m still looking for a more suitable theme; there are loads of them available now.
Maybe I’ll find something better soon.
Best regards,
Mirko

The only option I have is the default setting, and that’s just a right mess!
So far, it’s been more of a step backwards than a step forwards, unfortunately!

... I don’t like it. It’s cluttered, too small, and doesn’t display things like the posting date in a useful way.
All in all, it’s certainly no reason to visit more often.

I’m not keen on it either!
I used to really like being able to browse through previous topics.
Now I find it too limited, and I’d prefer it if the preview showed the date rather than the post number (does anyone actually care about that?).

Hmm, you can switch it at the bottom once you’ve logged in.
I’ve now set the more colourful skin as the default so we’re all on the same page.
The old one isn’t compatible anymore.
Best regards,
Mirko

Hello,
At the bottom, I can only select ‘STANDARD’, nothing else (I’m logged in – though only as a standard user)...
But it looks much better like this! :)
Swinging regards
Henning
PS: Is there anywhere you can set the time to 24 hours – or at least display a.m. or p.m.?

It’s like night and day – this is much better than the lies... thanks.

Hi Mirko,
I find the new forum design rather off-putting too. It might well be a rather naive suggestion, but why not ask Peter Löffler from Phototec where he had his forum put together? I reckon it’s by far the clearest and best-organised forum I know. No frills – just functional. Surely something like that must still be possible these days.
Best wishes to the Alte Schönhauser!
S.
Edit: Oh dear – I accidentally spelled Mirko with a ‘c’.

Hi,
I suppose it’s a matter of taste, but I don’t think the forum looks half bad in its new guise and – sorry about that! – I think the layout of the Phototec forum is awful. The only good thing about it is the excellent search function – the best I’ve ever come across.
Bye!

I know this from personal experience: what you, as a webmaster, think is brilliant and spend entire nights optimising is, in the end, of little benefit to the vast majority of users. Incidentally, I also find the Phototec forum’s user-friendliness dreadful – which is why I rarely pop in there; the phpBB2 software (which Aphog uses) is by far the best. (I’ve ‘grown up’ with this forum software, too.) The only thing I’m missing here now is the ‘New posts since your last visit’ button. At least, I haven’t found it yet. Otherwise, it’s fine as it is for me.

Hmm, I’ve noticed the new forum design and I think it looks positive. I like it. :)
