MirkoBoeddecker News of Jobo AG’s insolvency has now spread far and wide. What surprises me a little, however, is the fact that all the commentators are already lamenting the definitive demise of Jobo. Technically speaking, insolvency simply means an inability to pay. There are many reasons for filing for insolvency. One possible reason is so that employees can receive insolvency payments from the compensation fund; another is to maintain the limited liability of a limited company. All we know about Jobo so far is that the company is insolvent. Nothing more. Even the very first article published on the subject (Photoscala, I believe) stated that the owners are trying to make a fresh start. I would therefore suggest that we all wait and see what happens before we give up on Jobo. In my view, continuing the analogue product range on a slightly smaller scale would be a sensible business move with satisfactory prospects. FOTOIMPEX is largely able to fulfil orders and we are currently working to maintain this status until a possible fresh start. Best regards, Mirko
MirkoBoeddecker Jobo: things are moving forward. Last week we received three pallets of Jobo stock. This means we can now supply most standard products. There is also a new Jobo company. The owner is currently reviewing which products to keep in the range going forward. Unfortunately, the range won’t (or can’t) remain quite as extensive as it is now, but this mainly affects the accessories for the processors. Best regards, Mirko
MirkoBoeddecker Franz, If by ‘self-interest’ you mean that FOTOIMPEX would like to continue to be a sales channel for Jobo products in the future, then you’re right. But I’m sure none of the readers here would have thought otherwise. I have no stake in the new company, Jobo. My priority now is to ensure we can continue to supply products, to communicate facts-based information, and to manage the product range as smoothly as possible over the coming weeks until new products become available. Best regards, Mirko
