Hello everyone,
First, a brief bit of background:
My father passed away two and a half months ago. He was a keen photographer. Unfortunately, I didn’t really inherit my old man’s interest in the subject, which is why I’m hoping to get some expert advice here?

As both my parents have now sadly passed away, we had to clear out the house a few weeks ago. In the loft, we came across boxes of old slide films. Some of the slides contain very old photos of my parents together. That’s why the boxes are now at my place, as I’d like to digitise the slides. Although I’ve found out through online research that there are now companies that can digitise the slides for you, I’m reluctant to entrust my parents’ memories – which are very precious to me – to third parties. That’s why I’ve now been thinking about buying a slide scanner. I don’t want to break the bank, but I’m also willing to spend a bit of money for good quality. Of course, I’ve already had a look on Google, but I wasn’t really satisfied with the results.
That’s why I came across this forum on analogue photography: can you recommend any devices worth buying, or do you know of any good (impartial) websites where I can do further research?
Many thanks in advance and best regards,
Matthias
