Hello forum members, My foray into colour photography has gone completely wrong right from the start... I recently exposed a few 8x10 Kodak EPR64 transparencies that had been stored in my freezer for a few years, and I’m now completely flabbergasted by the extreme blue cast. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? Is the film simply too old, i.e. past its sell-by date? Or could it be that Mirko’s daylight bulbs aren’t actually suitable for this film after all? I’d really appreciate any tips you might have. Best regards, Matthias

Unfortunately not. It really is an EPR. I used ADOX daylight bulbs for lighting and, in principle, measured correctly too. The slides are correctly exposed, but unfortunately extremely blue – as if dipped in ink... I’d like to know whether I should just bin my sheet films, or whether my lab has messed up. The latter is rather unlikely, because the roll films (new E100G) that I sent in the same batch were certainly processed in the same chemicals, and they look flawless. Were the subjects on the roll film also lit using the ADOX bulbs? The bulbs do not have a full spectrum and cannot be used as standard lighting for slide photography. However, there shouldn’t actually be any blue cast. If these are the 6400K variants: you need to use a neutral density filter for slides. The film expects 5500K. Best regards, Mirko

Hi Mirko, I used the 5000K bulbs and, as it turns out, the roll films didn’t turn out quite as well. They’re a bit dark and the colours aren’t quite accurate either. But they’re almost flawless compared to the sheet films. The guy from the specialist lab in Budapest has since said that they’re definitely over-stored films. Looks like I’ll have a bit of space in my freezer again... Thanks anyway for the tips! Best regards, Matthias
