Hello everyone, I’ve been shooting exclusively in black and white for many years now. I’ve recently been asked to take colour portraits. The format is 6x6 or 6x7. My problem is that the labs I used to work with no longer exist. Question: where can I get FN roll films developed reliably? Who can reliably print from FN film in the formats 20x20...30x40 cm? Are there any film recommendations? (Flash portraits under studio conditions). I’d be grateful for any tips! Thanks and best regards, Klaus

Hi Klaus, PPS has branches in Berlin and, I think, in Hamburg. The colour negatives and slides are absolutely fine, and not particularly expensive either. They do prints as well, which are of a decent standard. If you’re open to Lambda prints, I can only recommend Whitewall (online). Best regards, Marc

Thanks for the tips! I’m based in Paderborn/East Westphalia. Bremen is too far for me. But thanks, Björn. Farbglanz is a good suggestion – but I reckon they’re more geared towards digital processing. I have no objections to Lambda-Print – Whitewall looks really good! Question: what about the major providers? (Cewe, for example). Does anyone have any experience with them? I’d be grateful for any further tips! Regards Klaus

Hi Klaus! I’ve recently had some MF colour films DEVELOPED at ‘Farbglanz’ and at dm, and I’ve also ordered prints. The prints from ‘Farbglanz’ were significantly better than those from dm (I think dm sends the films to Cewe!), but also MORE EXPENSIVE! I agree with Roland’s comment! Greetings from Anröchte Franz

Question: what about the major photo labs? (Cewe, for example). Does anyone have any experience with them?

I’ll add my two cents as well: I have my colour negative films developed directly at orwonet.de/pixelnet (35mm and roll films). I’ve been very happy with them so far. Simply request a bag and then send in up to 5 films. (@Mirko : I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post a link here; if not, just delete it: request a dispatch bag ) I usually have the first prints made straight away (though these are almost certainly made from the scanned negative), but they’re perfectly usable. As far as I’ve seen, my local Schlecker has them developed by CEWE. I wasn’t happy with that last time. That’s why I switched. Have a lovely evening Reinhold

Yes, I mainly get medium format (120 and 220) developed there. It’s usually quite quick as well. Post it out on Monday, and the films are usually back by Wednesday or Thursday. If you provide an email address when registering, you’ll receive a confirmation of receipt and a dispatch confirmation. Best regards, Reinhold
