Hello everyone, I’d like to develop a few rolls of ADOX CHM 125 film using Neofin Blaue. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is it a good idea? In the development chart, I’ve only found times for a 3-second agitation cycle. Can anyone give me some advice on what times to use for a longer cycle (30 or 60 seconds)? Many thanks! Regards, Max

Hi Max, According to Tetenal’s beta-time chart, the HP4+/CHM125, using a 60-second agitation cycle, struggles to reach a beta of 0.5 after 15 minutes. Even after 20 minutes (assuming Neofin is still effective by then), a beta of 0.6 has not yet been achieved. If extension factors due to dilution or similar are added, you could end up in timeframes well over half an hour; and Tetenal does not recommend that... Best regards, Henning

Ahh, thanks a lot for the info! I’ve just developed a roll of film using the 3-second rhythm. The beta values really do seem to be a problem there. I used a time of 5 minutes and the contrast didn’t turn out particularly rich. Can anyone tell me which developer is best to use with this film? Regards, Max

Hello, I’d go for Ilford ID-11 (or the identical Kodak D-76) at a 1:1 dilution! It actually works well with any film. For me, it’s the universal developer! Ilford Perceptol works well too, though the ISO sensitivity drops significantly (perhaps down to 80 ISO). Kodak Xtol works as well, but it’s only available in 5-litre bags. Best regards Wolfgang
