Hello forum,
I’ve now got hold of the Foma kit too. Apart from two points, everything’s clear to me:
1. What about moving the canister? (Every 3 seconds, 30 seconds, once a minute)?
2. How do you handle the intermediate exposure? I was thinking of removing the spiral from the spindle and moving it in a ‘wobbly’ motion 1 metre in front of a 100W bulb so that the light reaches every part. Is that alright?
Many thanks for your help.

Hello Bohermann,
unless otherwise stated in the instructions, the standard exposure time for Foma is: continuous for the first 30 seconds, then 10 seconds at the start of every minute.
For the second exposure, it’s best to use a spiral under water in a white bowl (e.g. the foot bath bowls you find in household goods shops). Advantage: the film can’t get too hot if the lamp gets too close (you can safely get as close as 30 cm), the white bowl reflects the light, and there are no water droplets on the film that can act like tiny lenses.

Hi Wolfgang,
Thanks for the tip! How many watts is the bulb?
Best regards,

Hi Harald,
Try using a 100-watt bulb (incandescent or a fluorescent bulb of similar brightness) for a total of 5 minutes, illuminating the spiral from all sides. You can also use a flash, e.g. 4 flashes with an LZ 40 unit. You’ll be able to tell by the black areas; if they aren’t dark enough yet, increase the light intensity again.
