Hello forum,
I’ve managed to pick up a KB film magazine for my Bronica SQ-Ai, still in its original packaging, at a bargain price. It seems to have been sitting around for a while but is in mint condition. The problem is that the camera doesn’t recognise the film in the magazine, so I can’t take a photo. Also, I can’t wind the film forward to the first frame properly.
Does anyone know their way around Bronica mechanics and can give me a tip as to where the mechanism might be ‘sticking’?
Thanks and best regards

Hello Bohermann!
I own the SQa and the two 35mm film magazines, the 135N and 135W, which I’ve already used to perform exposure on various rolls of film. So far, I’ve had no problems whatsoever. However, there are a few points from the manual worth mentioning.
The film is loaded into the cartridge, which can only be removed from the magazine after the rewind lever has been pulled out. Before reinserting the insert into the film housing, the transport wheel on the far right of the film cassette should be turned one full turn to deactivate the rewind button. Then reinsert the insert into the cassette, starting with the side onto which the film is wound. You can now push the rewind lever back in and close the housing. Attach the film cassette to the camera and alternate between advancing the film and taking a shot. As soon as the first dot appears in the frame counter, you can start taking photos.
