Hello everyone,
I’ve got a strange problem: when I develop Trix roll film in ATM49, an irregular, broad, yellowish fog appears across the entire length of the film, but only in the centre – not at the edges. I’ve been searching online for a while now, but haven’t found anything about it. Of course, I could use D76 (like almost all US photographers ;-)), but I don’t want to have so many open bottles of developer lying around – they don’t get any better with time. The discolouration hardly affects multi-contrast paper, but I’d still like to get this problem under control, as I enjoy using ATM49 and the negatives turn out very fine.
Here’s exactly what happened: Kodak 400TX exposed at 400 ASA, not over-exposed, stored below 20°C, agitated 3 times (airport equipment), developed in ATM49 1+0, fresh batch, fixed in Adofix, fresh. 5 films, same result, hand-developed in the can. (I conduct film development quite often.)
Does anyone else use this film developer combination, or does anyone perhaps even have an idea how I can avoid the fog?
Many thanks,
Regards, Jens

Tap on 'Fix'. I’d try re-fixing it first. Before you do, use a test strip to check whether the fixer is still good.
Best regards,
Bernhard
PS: X-rays tend to come out grey rather than yellowish.
