I’d like to buy a machine like this. Can anyone give me some advice on it? Is there anything I need to bear in mind? Does anyone have a machine like this? I’ve already got the manual.

...the very first thing I’d do is check that all the chemical bottles with hose connections are present and in perfect condition. Furthermore, the support brackets for the various tanks should also be present. Otherwise, I’d steer clear of grubby and dusty models. The spare parts situation isn’t exactly rosy… Ideally, you’d want a unit from a well-heeled amateur photographer who’s only used it once a year to develop his holiday slides.

...personally, I’d steer well clear of it – if only because of the description – it’s just a load of nonsense with which the seller is shirking any responsibility for the device’s functionality from the get-go... Just the scuff mark on the right-hand side doesn’t bode well – either the thing was in constant use and is now worn out as a result, or the previous owner didn’t care about the condition of the machine... And I haven’t seen the original chemical bottles with hose connections either...

...they look a bit homemade to me – have a look at page 13, section 5.4 of the user manual – there you’ll see what the bottles are supposed to look like...

P.S. I wonder why, of all the photos, the one with the bottles is out of focus and poorly taken, unlike the other product photos??? Why don’t you ask the supplier to send you a photo of the bottles outside the machine...

Right, I’ve got in touch with the seller again. Let’s see how it goes. I want to use the machine to automate my Super 8 film development almost entirely. I’ll be posting updates on that here. You’ll find out exactly how I go about it.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get hold of the machine. :( But I'm now looking at another one – a Jobo ATL 3. Where can I find the user manual for it in German?

...the same criteria as for the ATL 2000 – in other words, all machine-specific parts such as bottles, connectors and hoses should be in reasonable condition. In short: the machine should be in working order and free from any makeshift solutions...

Well, this one is as good as new. It just hasn't been used for over 10 years.
