Hello, I’ve been looking for welded PP sleeves for 4x5-inch slides for quite some time now. German photo labs almost exclusively offer glued acetate sleeves, but a few years ago I had some slides developed in France and received them in PP sleeves. Now I’d finally like to switch to good-quality sleeves, but I haven’t been able to find a retailer or importer for PP sleeves in Germany. In the USA, there is a company called ProLine that offers such sleeves (200 pieces for $19.06). Does anyone know where I can get these or similar sleeves here? Or would this item be a sensible addition to FOTOIMPEX’s range? Thanks!

Hi Gerich! I use postcard-sized clear sleeves for my 4x5 negatives. You can get them at our local stationers. One A4-sized sheet holds 4 negatives. There are holes on the side for filing, just like normal clear sleeves. I’m not sure what material they’re made of, though. In any case, it’s smooth, clear plastic. They’re called Veloflex 5336. Thank you very much, Andreas, FOTOIMPEX also sells these types of sleeves, which hold 4 slides, under the name Adofiles. I use the Adofiles for 35mm and 120 film, but my 4x5 archive system consists of acid-free boxes into which the slides are simply inserted. I am also unable to supply customers with sleeves holding 4 slides, but only the slides individually, either with or without a black mat. Best regards, Gerhard

Gerhard, we’ve had these sleeves in our range for years:

Unfortunately, in almost 6 years only 1,000 of them have settled, so it’s no longer possible to produce them again. We always tried to sell them like hot cakes, but in the end we just gave them away. I would therefore recommend buying them from the USA. The price seems very good too. We couldn’t even produce them at that price, let alone sell them. Best regards, Mirko

Would this item be a useful addition to FOTOIMPEX’s range? Hello Mirko, I’m talking about standard 4x5-inch sleeves without a mat. So far, I’ve only found sleeves like this in Germany made from glassine, acetate or, for a more luxurious and expensive option, polyester. I haven’t yet seen any PP sleeves here that would also serve the purpose of archive-safe storage and clear visibility. It was just meant as a tip. The company ProLine hasn’t replied to my email.
