For standard quality requirements, I use D76 / ID-11 (1+1); in my view, this already comes close to the optimum when sharpness, fine grain and sensitivity are given equal weighting.
€
For specific requirements regarding enlargement quality, I use Perceptol (1+1), which produces a noticeably finer-grained result, particularly with 400-speed films. Perceptol tends to optimise fine grain at the expense of speed; however, with flat-crystal films, this effect is barely noticeable or not noticeable at all. The times and speeds specified in
the data sheet for Ilford powder developers have proven reliable under my practical conditions. Accordingly, Delta 100 as well as T-Max 100 and 400 reach their nominal speed in Perceptol 1+1, whilst Delta 400 reaches 320 ASA.

The following applies to both developers: in the 400 ASA class, in my opinion, the Kodak film has the edge in terms of sharpness and fine grain; in the 100 ASA range, the Ilford seems to me to be clearly superior in terms of tonal reproduction.
