Why wouldn’t that work? I would, however, use the aquarium heater to heat a water bath and then place the chemical bottle(s) in it. This prevents the chemicals from coming into contact with the heater. Firstly, you won’t have to clean it afterwards, and secondly, you generally don’t know how resistant these heaters are to chemicals. Martin

When doing this, make sure there’s enough water in the water bath and that the heating element is completely submerged. It’s best to give the water a stir every now and then… My heating element went to electrical nirvana after about 15 minutes. In other words, it blew a fuse. These elements are normally designed for water volumes of 25 litres or more and are therefore prone to overheating. Alternatively, I’d look for a terrarium or plant heater that I can place under the tank. Regards, Sven.

Hello, I’ve been using a heating foil placed under the developer tray for many years. I simply switch the foil on and off depending on what the thermometer in the developer bath reads. It’s not the standard method for colour processing, but it works well for black and white. You can find these foils in specialist electronics shops. As an example, I’ve just had a look at Conrad. But I’m sure you can find them elsewhere too. Best regards Reinhold
