Hello everyone
I’m a complete beginner at analogue photography and have apparently been given one of the most difficult enlargers to use that a beginner could possibly get their hands on....
And unfortunately, the machine didn’t come with a manual; I’ve already found out a few things online, but it’s just not enough...
I actually only want to carry out black-and-white developments, so for my purposes I’d prefer to work with the colour head that came with it rather than the Micro Memory head, as I find it much easier...
However, the problem is that I can only get the machine to work with the Micro Memory head, and when the colour head is fitted, nothing happens at all. What could be the reason for this? Or does anyone here have a manual for this model??

So, off the top of my head. The circuit always runs from the socket to the transformer to the head, with the timer in between, connected to the transformer. The Colorkopf looks exactly the same, apart from the Micro Memory head. So, provided the Memory head on the transformer is working, I’d suggest the bulb in the Colorkopf is faulty. Which means taking the old ‘bulb’ out and putting a new one in. The heads are usually designed so that you can do this without tools.

Hi, first of all, thanks for your reply. The bulb is brand new – I ordered it from FOTOIMPEX… However, I haven’t used a Durst timer with it, just a simple, no-name one. But that shouldn’t really matter, should it? Or does it?

You need to check the timer’s switching capacity; it must be at least as high as the lamp’s power rating. If it’s too low, at best nothing will happen; at worst,
you’ll end up with a short circuit.
Can you get the lamp to light up without a ballast, by connecting it directly to the transformer?

Hi, no, I can’t get it to work. The light only comes on if the Micro Memory head is attached and you press the right buttons. However, the colour panel doesn’t have any buttons, and you can’t adjust anything on it apart from the colour settings. But when you switch the device on, absolutely nothing happens. I’ve scoured half the internet and can’t find a single manual for this device anywhere, which really surprises me.

Actually, I would have expected the lamp to be fitted directly into the head itself rather than in the magnifying unit.
