Hello forum,
Up until now, I’ve mainly used HP5+ as a 400 ISO roll film (in D76 1+1). I’m now looking for an alternative combination with a finer grain, so I’d like to try Fuji Neopan 400 next, as I’ve read a lot of good things about it. A49 and Emofin are recommended as developers, but I tend towards a two-bath developer for better contrast control and also because of its longer shelf life. Apart from Emofin, there is also, for example, the Moersch MZB two-bath developer, but I haven’t found any reports on the combination of Neopan 400 and MZB yet. The film is also missing from the development time table published by Mr Moersch.
Does MZB work well with Neopan 400? Does anyone have development times for this combination? Or would I be better off using Emofin?
Best regards,
Christof

Hello Christoph,
First of all, congratulations – Neopan 400 is my go-to choice for high-speed films too.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the combination of Emofin and Neopan, exactly as specified by Tetenal, as a starting point for your own experiments.
Neopan and MZB? A great combination, with one small drawback: you should ensure that the Neopan is exposed at a maximum of 200 ISO. It produces wonderfully detailed negatives that enlarge beautifully. I’ve used Neopan as a ‘holiday film’ in countries (and lighting conditions) as varied as Ireland and Crete, with good results every time. Neopan was still listed on my pack of MZB; I’ll be happy to check at home and let you know by tomorrow evening.
Best regards,
Hans-Christian

Hello Hans-Christian,
Thank you very much for the information. To make better use of the sensitivity, I’m going to try Emofin first and see if I like the results.
Best regards,
Christof
