Hello everyone,
So, I’ve got the following problem. After much back and forth, I’ve finally ordered an ADOX 30x40 mask frame and it’s been delivered. Now, (please don’t laugh :) ) how does all this work with this thing? I mean, adjusting the margin width, using the ‘pins’ and the scale markings... I thought there’d be something like an ‘instruction manual’ included – but, well. Maybe someone here can help me before I have to figure it out through trial and error.
Thanks and all the best

Hi Micha,
I’ve never used the measurements, as I always clamp a template in place and then adjust the margin so that I always get the same cut-out.
It’s simple and has worked well for me over the years.
You can move the three mask strips to do this. You adjust the rear stop using the stop that can be moved parallel (plastic bar on two metal arms). There is also a mm scale stuck on it to set the margin width in mm. Depending on how far back you move it, the rear margin becomes larger (covered by the wide metal part at the top).
You adjust the left stop for the paper using the retractable pins. Ideally, you release one so that the paper is positioned as centrally as possible on the frame when it touches the pin on the left and the sliding mechanism at the back, so that you can also place the frame centrally on the base board beneath the enlarger.
Using these sliding scales on the front mask strip, you can now also measure the other wheels according to the selected width of the rear edge. Because they are adjustable, you can measure from the edge of the paper to the mask strip (i.e. the start of the image).
Best regards,
Mirko

Hello,
Thank you so much! Everything is clear now.
