OberstOster
Hello everyone!
I’m a beginner and so far I’ve been conducting the development of CHS25 (Efke) with Adox APH09, using Tetenal Hütter in Adox Adofix, Tetenal odourless stop bath and Adox Adostab. There’s hardly any smell at all. Then I print on Fomaspeed N311 paper and use Paterson Acugrade, ADOX Adofix again and the Tetenal stop bath.
I’ve only been able to do this once so far, as afterwards the smell in the bathroom was very strong and unpleasant and only went away completely after almost three weeks.
Now I wanted to ask if any of you might know what could be causing this. As I live in a shared flat, I can only take photos again once I’m reasonably sure that I can work in a way that’s at least roughly odour-free. If it’s down to the fixer: is an odourless fixer worth it (I think there’s only one available from FOTOIMPEX)?
Admittedly, I didn’t air the room out overnight either. But I think the smell would have been there anyway, even if not quite as strong.
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
“Oberst Oster”
Gerd
In my case, using an odourless fixer has helped. I still fix the negatives with the smelly fixer, but for tray processing during positive development, I now only use the odourless one.
The odourless fixer is a bit more expensive and doesn’t go as far. But you can’t have everything.
