So now I know what’s in each of the books, but that’s not much use to me :) . After all, where is a ‘mere mortal’ like me supposed to get hold of these chemicals?
From a traditional chemical supplier. You go there, prove your identity with the relevant documents, and convince them during the ‘consultation’ that you know what you’re doing. After that, they have almost everything there, apart from certain items (dichromates and uranyl, for example). You should, however, be able to name the substances in German using their correct names. Nobody can reasonably make sense of “two hundred grams of Pöro”.
You can get everything from a chemist who trusts you. They’ll then keep a record of the final destination under your name. And you might have to pay the full amount for their minimum sale quantity. This becomes quite interesting with dichromates, for example, because the chemist’s minimum purchase from his suppliers exceeds the maximum amount he can sell to his customers by a factor of many. After all, chemicals are bought there and medicines handed over the counter.
That is why chemists are now the only sources of dichromates for ordinary photographers.
Another alternative would be direct access to research institutions.
That said, I don’t see any major issues with the desired process via normal commercial channels. As I said before: with ‘two hundred grams from Pöro’, you’re guaranteed to fail. But I haven’t come across any truly critical chemicals at K14.
Best regards,
Franz
