Two questions about Promicrol Does anyone have any experience with the shelf life of Promicrol, and whether it can suddenly go off and stop developing film altogether? My Promicrol is from summer 2006, so it’s quite old. It was still developing perfectly in September. Now, with a TriX film, it didn’t work at all – just a faint hint of a negative. Luckily, it was only a text document. The second question (before I possibly buy a new bottle): Development times for the ADOX films (and Classic Pan) in Promicrol aren’t in the table. Does anyone have any advice? Generally speaking, I’m annoyed by the large containers of negative developers. Who can use that much as an amateur photographer? Wilfried

Hi Wilfried, Sometimes I don’t develop anything for months, so I transfer the stock solutions (following the ‘Neofin principle’) into small single-use vials from the chemist’s (Aponorm), which contain exactly the right amount of concentrate to fill one canister. This works brilliantly with A49, D-76 and my Beutler formula. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with Promicrol... :) Best regards, Henning
