Hello, I’ve been given a working Bewi Zoom Spot light meter. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with an instruction manual. Does anyone know where I can get hold of one, or can anyone help me with the device? Thanks and best regards, Andreas

I have one of these. There are three measurement ranges: Low, High and Spot. Low and High measure the entire image field, taking the set zoom into account. Spot measures only the circle in the centre. Note: read the Spot setting on the black scale! The batteries are, shall we say, very unusual. I simply put in 6 or 8 (I can’t remember off the top of my head) LR44s, and that works too. The light meter is very accurate, but a bit sensitive to stray light. If you need to measure against the light, you have to shield the device.

When I cover the measuring window completely so that no light can enter, the device still displays a value between 1 and 2. Best regards, Andreas

I had another look. There’s a battery test (press the battery cover) and an adjustment screw on the back. You can probably use that to reset it to zero. Mine came with a test report, so I haven’t fiddled with anything. It’s certainly normal for the Beli to show a reading even when you cover the front. The thing has a high speed, so it still measures in your trouser pocket. If you have any doubts about the zero setting, I recommend activating the upper measurement range in pitch darkness. The pointer locks in place so you can read the result afterwards in the light.
