Hi,
Last autumn, I developed HP5 in Promicrol to N+2 and achieved excellent results.
Since then, I haven’t been able to use the developer.
Does anyone have experience with Promicrol and can tell me whether the developer is still usable after almost six months?
I’ve kept the ‘residue’ in a collapsible bottle with very little air at the surface ever since.
Regards,
Klaus

Hello Klaus,
I’ve just developed two APX films in Promicrol at a 1:14 dilution. I bought the developer (1 litre) in January 2007. So it’s a year old, still a quarter full, and is *gas-protected*. However, I transferred it straight away into a brown glass bottle at the time. Like all my developers, it’s also kept in the fridge. I reckon, especially as I only use Promicrol for a few films, that I’ll have used it all up by the middle of the year. That means it’ll have lasted a year and a half. In my experience, if treated properly, Promicrol lasts two years without any loss of quality!
If your developer has gone off after just a few weeks, you’ve somehow *messed it up* or treated it badly java script:emoticon(':)', 'smid_3')
Put it in a glass bottle, keep it well chilled and add Protectan on top, then it’ll last a long time for development.
Best regards
Lothar
