Hello!
Does the name AD-37 ring a bell with anyone?
I picked these up when a lung examination centre was closing down. So it could be something to do with X-ray films.
I suspect it’s a developer. It comes as a powder, packed in one large and one small plastic bag, both black and designed to hold 10 litres. AD-37/1 is the smaller bag, AD-37/2 the larger one.
At first I thought it might be from Azomures, which is actually quite likely. On d.r.f I was directed to ADOX, which could also be plausible; either it’s actually old ADOX stuff (I’ve also found Agfa films from Wolfen here) or Azomures has adopted the designation and formula. Or did ORWO produce something under this name? (Before Azomures existed, people here used to work a lot with ORWO X-ray films.)
In any case, I’d be delighted if anyone came across this name anywhere. I haven’t found anything online and I’ve also flicked through my recipe books.
Regards,
Eugen

Just to help with the search: two bags? One large, one small? That sounds very much like developer.
Another option is to mix it up and hold the film in it. If it turns black, it’s developer; if it turns clear, it’s fixer (though I’d be very surprised if that were the case). However, if the chemicals are completely unknown, I’d advise against it and would rather dispose of the stuff properly. That’s far better than having to call the fire brigade in the end.
Best regards
Stefan
