Hello.
Does anyone know if shell worms are also suitable for the Lomo Tank? I wanted to try developing 35mm film using the E-6 process, and you really need to keep the temperature as stable as possible for that.

Hi Rene,
There’s no problem in itself with developing using the Lomo Tank E6.
Lots of people used to do that (though not E6, but UK-something or other).
However, as far as I know, nobody used a tray warmer.
You need a simple water bath and something to control the temperature (perhaps a tap for hot water and one for cold). If the water volume is large enough, you can let it cool down from one degree above your working temperature and start once it reaches that point.
Normally, a 10-litre water bath will maintain the temperature for long enough.
Of course, an aquarium heater with a thermostat or something similar would be better.
Important: When preheating, the developer must, of course, be in the heating bath, just like the can itself.

The model for E4 was called UK X, and UK 6 for E6. I’ve never developed ‘moving picture films’ before, but even when developing E4 films in several batches (one separate bath for each!) in a large water bath, I experienced uneven heat distribution; it was only a circulation pump that solved the problem. An immersion heater with a homemade temperature control set to 30°C (for UK X) perfected the whole process back then.
