Hello,
So far I’ve only had roll film pinhole cameras, but I’d now like to get into large format photography.
As the FOMASPEED 214 seems to be out of stock, I’m looking for an alternative.
Does anyone know of an alternative, perhaps with details of the ISO rating etc.?
Bye

Hello Klaus,
Do you mean the Fomaspeed 412?
In that case, you were probably thinking of the thin backing, which makes it easier to transfer the image afterwards.
The ADOX Displayfilm (‘Transparent Photographic Paper’ on page 7 of the catalogue) is very well suited for this. It isn’t as expensive as ‘real’ film, can be loaded and processed under red light, and can be copied perfectly afterwards thanks to the completely clear base.
Here is the description:
Photographic paper emulsion on a clear film base. Ideal for enlarging negatives or slides onto this film. Either as a display or as an intermediate negative for alternative printing techniques. This emulsion is not as fine-grained as ORTHO 25 film, as it is not a genuine film emulsion but a paper emulsion. It is therefore primarily suitable for enlarging negatives. ORTHO 25 is a genuine orthochromatic film with extremely high resolution. This material is preferred for contact printing of negatives. The transparent photographic paper behaves like photographic paper and can be processed quite normally under red light in a tray – but please be careful, otherwise it will get scratched! For precise contrast control, you can experiment with different dilutions. The paper has a sensitivity of approx. 50 ASA and can also be used as a recording medium (e.g. for pinhole cameras). The speed depends on the red component in the light. The exposure meter should generally be set to a value between 6 and 25 ASA.
