Hello Nassifutz, FOTOIMPEX has kindly posted a table online showing the processing times for most standard developers: FOTOIMPEX You can find more technical details in the manufacturer’s data sheet: Foma For a start, we recommend the standard developer: Fomadon LQN, a balanced developer that’s hard to get wrong. This is also available from FOTOIMPEX as well as in any well-stocked photography shop in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Dilute 1+10, develop for 10 minutes at 20 degrees, stop, fix, wash, dry, done. You’re better off ensuring the film receives an exposure of 320 ISO, as it won’t reach ‘true’ 400 ISO in most developers (but that’s the case with most 400 ISO films). Have fun! Samuli

Hello, Here are my additional findings: ATM49 1:1 13 mins APH09 1:40 9 mins With me, ATM produces much less grain than LQN, but the negatives are ‘softer’; APH09 produces less grain than LQN, but it works. But LQN is the safest option for now. With my limited eyesight, I can hardly tell the difference between 320 and 400 ASA.

That’s going to produce quite a bit of grain – though that might actually work well in some cases. Do keep us posted on the results. Oh, and by the way, the R09 mentioned in the Foma data sheet is the original Rodinal, identical to the R09 from Calbe that FOTOIMPEX stocks. It’s slightly more potent than modern Rodinal, though. Dilutions of 1+20 and 1+40 correspond to the dilutions of 1+25 and 1+50 for the improved Rodinal. Perhaps this information will help you in your search. Best regards, Samuli

Hello Nassifutz, I’m now interested in this too, so I’ve had another look. The Massive Development Chart at www.digitaltruth.com gives the following: Fomapan 400 Rodinal 1+25 400 5.5 20°C Fomapan 400 Rodinal 1+50 400 11 20°C Fomapan 400 Rodinal 1+50 800 19 20°C (this information refers to roll film) However, 5.5 minutes seems very short to me. I suppose there’s nothing like testing it yourself. Please do post a scan in the gallery. I’d be curious to see what the image looks like. Regards, Samuli

So I developed the test film as follows: Fomapan 400 Rodinal 1+25 400 5.5 20°C At first glance, the result looks very good. You can see more on the contact sheet. Nevertheless, there seems to be more detail in the shadows than the scanner picks up. Strange. I also had an exposure slightly less than 400.
