Hello,
How long does the concentrate keep once the bottle has been opened?
I tested a roll of film; it wasn’t quite right, so I developed it the next day with adjusted times and it didn’t come out at all – a density of 0.5. I opened a new bottle (unfortunately from a new batch) and I was 0.05 over. Could this be down to production variations, or was the first batch slow to start with and then went off really quickly? (Again) unfortunately, I didn’t note down when I opened the first bottle; I think it was about two months ago, but guesswork and film development really don’t mix......

If the bottle is sealed tightly so that no air remains inside, the concentrate keeps for several months without any noticeable change.

Hi Samuli,
Thanks for your reply; it took me a while to get back to you as I wanted to rule out any other mistakes on my part first. As I couldn’t find any, it was probably because the Fomadon was too old after all. When I threw it away today, it was yellow – I must have misjudged the time. With the new bottle, I’ve made a note of the date and always put Protektan on it; otherwise, given the size, it should be used up quickly enough.
Regards, Peter
