efke IR 820
Infrared film [??]
The efke IR 820 has genuine 820nm infrared sensitisation and a speed of 100 ASA without a filter.
It can be exposed using dark red or black filters (infrared filters, e.g. Heliopan 665nm – available from us).
It is important to note that the speed does not decrease in proportion to the filter density – so, in addition to density correction, a further exposure correction is necessary. It is best to shoot a test series for the first roll of film.
With a black filter, the usable speed is usually around 3–12 ASA.
The film is comparable in its performance to the now discontinued MACO IR 820.
We also have some residual stock of the Maco IR 820 ‘Aura’ as 4x5” sheet film. This film has no antihalation coating and, in addition to the infrared effect, exhibits the typical overexposure effect of old emulsions without antihalation protection.
