Hi everyone, this is the
lab forum, I know. But I’m sure many of you also scan colour film or work in a ‘hybrid’ way. I keep coming across posts online about certain problems or difficulties in understanding the process, or I see digitised images that haven’t been properly filtered. I enlarge black-and-white material by hand myself, but I scan my colour film.

I once wrote down and illustrated my ‘workflow’ for this step by step:
€
- Creating a “RAW scan” using the simple “Epson Scan”.
- Processing this raw file using the free “Gimp”.
With a little patience and practice, it is therefore entirely possible to achieve high-quality results from (colour) negatives or slides even without expensive software, using just a “consumer scanner”.
