Hi everyone, this is the lab forum, I know. But I’m sure many of you also scan colour film or work in a ‘hybrid’ way. I keep coming across posts online about certain problems or difficulties in understanding the process, or I see digitised images that haven’t been properly filtered. I enlarge black-and-white material by hand myself, but I scan my colour film. € I once wrote down and illustrated my ‘workflow’ for this step by step: €

With a little patience and practice, it is therefore entirely possible to achieve high-quality results from (colour) negatives or slides even without expensive software, using just a “consumer scanner”. € Best regards, Thomas

Thank you for this helpful article, which finally sheds light on the process of scanning colour negative film in a simple and clear way, describes a possible route to excellent scans and prints made from them, and dispels a few myths in the process. In general, I think your site is very well put together and, in my opinion, is a good starting point for newcomers to film-based photography, even if I disagree with you on some points – but that’s inevitable with such a complex subject.
