Hello, I have a Durst CLS 66 colour mixing unit. It looks as though the halogen bulb has blown. As I don’t have the user manual, I don’t know what type of halogen bulb it needs. Can anyone help me? Kind regards, Bastian

I think it’s 12V. When I get home later, I’ll have a quick look. I swapped mine for a weaker one back then, as the times were too short for me... Best regards, Martin

So can any bulb be used? The FOTOIMPEX catalogue states: "If your device requires a halogen bulb, please note not only the voltage and wattage but also the base. Only when the three-letter code (e.g. ESJ), the voltage and the wattage match will the bulb actually fit. Please note: every third time you change a halogen bulb, the base should also be replaced or at least cleaned. Otherwise, the bulb may burn out again after a short time." What exactly is meant by ‘base’?

By ‘base’, I mean the ceramic socket where you slot the bulb in. Even if they look similar, the bulbs sometimes don’t fit properly, and if you force them in, the prongs break off and that’s the end of it. Best regards, Mirko

Are those actually standard halogen bulbs that can also be fitted to the ceiling?

Hello, I can only vaguely remember now, as it’s been quite a while since I ordered a small stock of bulbs back then. But I think both the spacing between the prongs and their diameter are different from those of a standard ‘household’ halogen bulb. It’s best to get hold of a catalogue (or visit the website) from an electronics mail order company and compare the products with your sample. You should then be able to find the right fitting. In any case, the reflector should be a ‘cool light’ type, i.e. one that allows infrared light to pass through to the rear (if the CLS66 has a reflector lamp). Best regards, GeorgK

Just 10 years ago, there were ‘selected’ lamps available to ensure that the recorded filter values weren’t wasted when the lamp was replaced. According to my measurements at the time, unselected lamps could vary by as much as 20 Durst filter units. I no longer see any ‘selected’ lamps in the catalogues these days. Perhaps the tolerances are now small enough. Best regards, Wolfgang
