Rocketman
Hello everyone.
I recently bought a Gossen Profisix and the accompanying Gossen Profi-flash.
The Profisix works brilliantly.
However, when I try to take a flash exposure reading with the Profi-flash attachment, I get no result.
I attach the Profi-flash, press the red measurement button on the Profisix... bang...the green indicator light comes on, but the meter needle immediately swings to the left. Pressing the start button makes no difference. If I then fire one of my studio flashes (either directly via a sync cable from the meter, or manually on the flash unit), still nothing happens. Turning the meter dial doesn’t help either. The meter needle stays at the left end of the scale. Measurement not possible.
Am I doing something wrong, or is there a fault here?
As I said... the Profisix measures very accurately in daylight and artificial light.
Best regards,
Sebastian
PS:
Perhaps someone from my area (the Ruhr region) also owns a Gossen Profisix.
Then we could have a look to see if the Profisix works.

Hmm...
...I think this thing has a loose connection.
If anyone else has a device like this... I’d like to know if it’s normal for the outer contact tips of the jack plugs to turn and wobble. After a bit of fiddling around, I managed to get a reading after all. But when I wiggled it again, everything went back to how it was before... namely, not working at all.

Hi Sebastian,
I have the microscope attachment for my Profisix. Nothing wobbles on it.
However, I regularly notice that the blades are ‘shadow-optimised’ when I touch the contact on the left (as viewed) with my finger whilst taking a measurement.
Your flash attachment is probably just a bit dodgy. Since it’s broken anyway: have it repaired if you’re not afraid of the Lökoben. There’s not that much to it.
Best regards,
Franz

I’m not afraid of a screwdriver =)
However, I’m not entirely sure how to open the casing.
There are probably some small screws under the covers.
How do you make contact when the attachment is still plugged into the device???
I think I’ll probably make use of my 14-day return policy.
Let’s see what the retailer says. I won’t be fiddling with it before then.
I’ve since heard from someone else that nothing wobbles on the connectors of their Profi-Flash either. For me, the matter is clear.
See you later.

Hi Sebastian,
> How do you make contact when the attachment is still in the device???
You don’t. It works perfectly well without the attachment (thanks to the high-impedance electrical design inside).
If you can still return your item, do so. Perhaps you could name the seller here, so that no one else from here falls for it.
Best regards,
Franz

Hi,
Just to give a balanced view,
I’ve also got loose connections on my Profisix and Profiflash.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. The Six on its own is flawless. The same goes for a spot, for example.

Martin
