Hello,
I still have a pack of Tetenal Vario-Ultra black-and-white paper with a variable contrast range of 0–5. How do I control the contrast? Do I need filters for this? Which developer and fixer should I use—Agefix, for example?
Kind regards,
Detlef

Hi Detlev,
Yes, you’ll need a multi- or variable-contrast filter, a colour head, or a black-and-white multi-grade head.
You’ll need a positive developer and any kind of fixer (see Mirko’s catalogue for product recommendations). A stop bath is recommended in between; citric acid from Budnikowski will do.
Best regards,
Martin

Hello Martin,
I have the Durst M-605 colour enlarger. Can I adjust the contrast on it, and how do I do that?
Which colour should I use, and how can I tell which gradient is set?
Kind regards,
Detlef

Hello Detlef,
You do that using Yellow and Magenta. Yellow produces softer contrasts, Magenta harder ones. There should actually be an instruction leaflet at the bottom of the box explaining exactly how to do this.
Otherwise, I also have an M605 (max. filter density 130) and set it as follows:
Degrees/Y/M
00/0/120
0/88/6
1/64/12
2/45/24
3/24/42
4/10/69
5/0/130
Best regards,
Franz

Hello,
My last few packs of Tetenal didn’t come with any data sheets either...
However,
at
www.tetenal.de -> German -> Photography -> Consumer -> Service -> Download
you can download all the information.
Best regards,
Henning
