Hello!
Regardless of quality, which paper developer/fixer is actually the most effective/economical – in other words, the cheapest? Has any of our esteemed forum members worked this out yet?
Tim
I don’t think this question really gets us anywhere. Why?
Well, depending on the result I want, I can use a different developer each time.
But that doesn’t mean that every developer will produce the desired results with the paper I use.
In other words, a cheap developer, say N113, will end up costing me dearly if it produces poor results with my paper, say Kodak Polymax.
The right combination of paper and developer – and then the appropriate fixer – is always the best value.
That’s how I’d approach the question of what’s ultimately the best option.
My experience: Kodak Polymax with Polymax developer and Ilford paper with Ilford Multigrade, Foma paper with Calbe N113.
Best regards,
Tim II.
