Grisu
Hello,
As I’d like to try out some films with lower speed but greater sharpness and higher resolving power, alongside the standard-speed black-and-white films I’ve always used, I’ve ordered the Rollei PAN 25 and the Ilford PanF.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find any development charts online for the Rollei PAN 25 in particular that aren’t produced by Rollei. I am currently using the following developers:
- Ilford Ilfosol S (I’ll start with this)
- Ilford ID-11 (still in stock)
- Tetenal Neofin Blaue
- Tetenal Negafin (brand new to me, also ordered :D )
Are these developers suitable for developing the aforementioned films with good results? If so, which developer would you recommend for the two films mentioned?
And what development times would I need for Rollei PAN 25 with the developers mentioned, e.g. using my preferred 1-minute agitation cycle?
Regards
Sven

Hi Sven,
I can’t say anything about the Rollei as I don’t have any experience with it. But as for the Pan F: it has a slightly steep curve under normal contrast conditions, but produces very good results during exposure at ISO 25/15 and development using ID-11 (preferably with a 1+1 dilution as a single-use developer), provided you reduce the time specified in the instructions by about 20%. You’ll have to experiment a bit yourself, though.
Isn’t the Rollei actually an Adox/Efke?

As far as I know, Rollei films are identical to Agfa emulsions, which means that Rollei Pan 25 should be identical to the former Agfapan 25. However, I don’t know whether the emulsion and the development data are still the same, which is why I’m asking here.

Hi Sven,
I’ve no idea about the Rollei 25 either; even digitaltruth doesn’t have any information on it. Perhaps this is an opportunity to venture into the unknown and give it a go yourself?
As for the PAN F, though, my absolute favourite is Neofin Blaue!
In sunny conditions, achieve overexposure by 1/2 stop and develop for ~10% less time (that’s my preference)
Give it a go – who needs a 25 anymore...
Good luck, Stefan
