Hello,
As I’m still new to black and white photography, I took my first two rolls of film to FOTOIMPEX. I asked for the development, a contact sheet and a CD. Now that I’m back home, I’ve noticed that the scans all have a brownish tinge and the contact sheets have a fault in the same place. Is this normal at FOTOIMPEX?

If the scans appear brownish, it is probably because they were scanned in colour and were not converted to 8-bit greyscale as a final step. Scanning in colour is common practice.

What sort of defects do the contacts show?

There are light spots in the same place on both contact sheets. It’s not a big deal, it’s just that it stands out. As I don’t have much experience with this yet, I’m wondering whether it’s perhaps common practice to use lower-quality paper for contact sheets, or whether I’ve just been unlucky?
