Hello, I’ve now received my R3 films, and I have a few questions: - Why weren’t the roll films delivered in those smart plastic containers, as Rollei does? - Has anyone tried developing R3 films in the Duolab (Rotation)? I rotated my first R3s last year. However, I’ll need to check my lab notes at home, if they’re still there, to give you the times. Weekend

I’ve now had a look. The following applies to R3 35mm and medium format (based on my own experience) R3, 80 ASA LowSpeed, 24°, 21 mins, 2 mins after pre-wetting R3, 400 ASA HighSpeed, 20°, 12 mins, 2 mins after pre-wetting Results: Negatives with very good shadow detail and normal highlights. Weather conditions during shooting: 400 ASA overcast in November 2005 on Rügen and February 2006 in Zurich 80 ASA same time and same place but sunny Total of 4 KB films and 10 RF I was able to make some good 30/40 prints from all the shots, some of which were used for two exhibitions.

Yes, the exposure times for R3 and RHS/AM74 will certainly be correct. We use R3/Kipp ISO 400 and 14 minutes 30 seconds at 20 degrees with a diffuse condenser system; for rotation, the exposure times need to be reduced by approximately 12–15%. R3 is available in the smart plastic containers under RF4001 and in the Rollei Box RF4001P in foil packaging (120 roll films/12 pieces). Best regards, Robert

I don’t quite understand – does that mean the films are sold either individually in the plastic box (from Rollei), or in the wooden box but wrapped in foil? So, by extension, does Impex actually sell the goods from the box?? Regards, Stähane.

Well, thanks for the reply; I’ve also received a response from MACO: 10% shorter exposure times with rotation: - R3 400 HS --> 1+7 20° 13.6 minutes - R3 80 LS --> 1+4 24° 20.9 minutes Regards, Stähane

Yes, apparently per unit, and I think that’s very nice (which, by the way, is what we do too). RHS/AM74 works up to approximately 1+12 as a low-contrast developer, which is important for R3 use. RLS/CG512 is a proper fine grain low-contrast developer. RHS/AM74 works as a deep-layer developer up to approximately 1+12, which is important for use with the R3. RLS/CG512 is a proper fine grain undercoat developer.
