Is there a 'technique' that allows you to take photos DIGITALLY and print them ANALOGUOUSLY? I imagine that applying all the well-known subtleties of conventional printing techniques would produce some truly stunning images.

Hi Klaus, It’s available. http://www.variochromat.de/ I don’t expect the image quality to be anything earth-shattering, though, because in principle every digital print is produced in this way. The advantage of the Variochromat is simply that it’s suitable for professional labs without the need for roll film and works well for individual negatives. Best regards, Franz

Hi Klaus, Of course, you can also print out any digital image file as a negative or run it through the inkjet printer, and then head off to the darkroom with the negative. The classic pioneer in this field would probably be Dan Burkholder (platinum prints from digital files). I’d only recommend using the TiPi for contact printing, as otherwise you’ll just be enlarging the printer’s rather poor resolution. Regards Martin

Hi Klaus, I’ve got a Polaroid HR600 processor here, which lets me perform exposures on 35mm, Polaroid and medium format film... Unfortunately, Polaroid negative film is no longer available... it used to be my favourite format, and it was quick too – I’d have my negative after just 7 minutes... Since then, I’ve always been using 35mm film for exposure, and I have to say it’s actually sufficient up to A3. Best regards, Stéphane.
