Hello "nassifutz",
According to FOTOIMPEX, CHM400 is a multilayer film. HP5+ is single-layer! You can actually see the difference when the CHM comes out of development and the base has a slightly pinkish tinge.
Hmm, just out of interest: what does the colour of the antihalation coating or the base have to do with the number of layers, and where did you get the information about the number of layers in HP5+?
For my part, I’ve always developed CHM400 using HP5 timings, have never had any surprises with it, and can’t see any difference visually. Whether the film is then still ‘100% identical’ or not is of little concern to me. Perhaps you could try developing it using HP5 parameters for a while, and if you encounter any problems, you can post here again.
