The Wetplate Weekend offers an introduction to the wonderful world of wet plate photography, also known as ambrotype.
<p style="color:rgb(28,29,29);font-family:'Open Sans', HelveticaNeue, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">David Puntel demonstrates the technique at Berlin’s only Skylight Studio, set amidst a garden. Working with natural light not only produces more pleasing image tones, but also allows you to master the practical challenges of exposure control. Participants will learn all the steps of the wet plate technique, from the chemical composition of the solutions used and the cleaning of the glass plate supports, right through to exposing and conducting the development of the unique photographs themselves. You will work with various cameras, different formats (4x5"/5x7"/8x10") and historic lenses, with which you can capture your impressions on these unique ambrotypes.
<p style="color:rgb(28,29,29);font-family:'Open Sans', HelveticaNeue, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">This intensive course is also suitable for beginners with no prior photographic experience and is limited to 4 participants. Drinks and all materials required to produce approx. 10 wet plates, which participants can take home with them, are included in the price.
