Clemenz, It’s not that I want to disillusion you, but our rental labs – and all the others I know of in Germany – are making a loss. Those that still exist are either on some sort of life support (public funding, parent company) or are keeping their heads above water with so-called ‘mixed cost calculations’ (high turnover for the owner-operator through a mix of rental lab, photography courses, print albums, etc.). That works, especially when courses are running alongside. But unfortunately, renting out the equipment on its own isn’t a lucrative business. We’ve been booking the annual loss of €25,000 that the IMPEX rental lab incurs through rent and staff costs into the advertising budget as “active marketing costs” for years. I therefore fear that your search in the primary market will prove unsuccessful. That leaves the secondary market (public institutions). That is where I would see the greatest opportunities. It’s rather disheartening... and my old university doesn’t process EX-Studies anymore, even though they have the best equipment... Now I’m actually thinking about having 9/12 CNs scanned and printed... Thanks for the info anyway Clemenz
