PhilippReichmuth Hello, I’ve managed to get hold of a flexible shaft for my Magnifax 4, so last Friday in Berlin, as I’d been planning for a while, I bought a fine-focusing mechanism and, after a bit of fiddling around with the Czech instructions, fitted it in a little while ago. (Meopta has beautifully designed post-socialist packaging, if I may say so myself.) I’m now wondering how I should attach the flexible shaft; unfortunately, I don’t have the instructions for that. The shaft has a cap at the end that fits over the fine-focusing wheel and into which the shaft is clamped using a sort of bayonet lock. The cap is smooth on the inside, and friction alone isn’t enough to keep it on the focus wheel; instead, it spins freely and eventually falls off. However, there isn’t a retaining screw or anything similar on the shaft either. What am I overlooking here? Thanks in advance – Philipp
PhilippReichmuth Hi Mirko, ...or something like that ;) That's a shame – I was hoping you could take them off again without damaging them. Maybe I'll put a Velcro fastener on them ;) Philipp
Roman Hi Philip! Did you get your wave from the same source as mine (from Switzerland, via the Phototec forum)? Mine came with instructions, and the pictogram actually specifies the use of glue! If you like, I can scan them for you, but it really is nothing more than a note saying to apply a drop of glue and then stick the thing on... Roman
PhilippReichmuth Hi Roman, Yes, that’s where I got them from too. I’d be grateful if you could scan the instructions. I’m not really keen on sticking them on; I’d quite like to be able to take them off. Maybe I’ll attach them with a couple of neodymium magnets or something similar instead. I’ll give it a go. Philipp
PhilippReichmuth Hi Roman, Thanks. You can also stick the thing on like this, as you can remove the shaft yourself. That makes the whole magnetic and Velcro fastening system unnecessary. Philipp
