Hello everyone,
I’ve undergone exposure of an Adox KB14 (Adox CHS25 in Minox 8x11 format) and would now like to
develop it.
I have the following chemicals available: Hrx2, Rodinal and Minox fine-grain developer
– though the latter is 20 years old.
Minox developer bottle, 53cc capacity
According to the Impex table, Rodinal is 1:50. That’s about 1cc of developer per bottle.
A bit too little, I think. Would 1:25 work?
Or is there a way to use HRX2?

Hi Kopflos,
I wouldn’t trust a 20-year-old developer unless it’s Rodinal. Rodinal certainly works, but whether the grain might become slightly larger with that small negative format is something others will have to say. Regarding the combination of CHS 25 and HRX-2, Spur writes:
HRX-2 + Efke 25:
Resulting ISO sensitivity approx. 20/€14, dilution 1 + 29, temperature 20°C, beta approx. 0.6, development time 4 minutes with a shaking frequency of once every 30 seconds.
SPUR recommendation: Recommended with reservations
Perhaps this will be of some help to you.

Hi,
Well, the amount of Rodinal isn’t a problem at all. The Minox is roughly equivalent to 1/5 of a standard 120 roll (actually a bit less, as the perforations get trimmed off). The only reason I can’t develop a 120 roll using 5ml at a 1:50 dilution is because my Jobo requires at least 350ml.
I’ve done it before too; the pictures turn out nicely. It’s just not a fine-grain developer, but it does work up to a conservative 50 ASA (albeit with moderate contrast).
Unfortunately, I don’t know why the HRX is only recommended to a limited extent either.
Regards
Martin
