Hello forum members,
This is my first post on this forum. I’ve been reading along from the very beginning, though. What’s prompted this first post is a certain concern I have about Forte. A photography friend told me that Forte might be ‘out of business’ again. Is there any truth in that?
I thought that with the number of competitors dwindling, Forte should now be able to survive without any existential fears.
I use Forte papers regularly myself and am satisfied with them. I’d like to continue buying Polywarmton or the equivalent Adox product in future. The 200 Classicpan in 8x10 is also fine.
Can anyone reassure me?
Thanks
Jürgen

Hello Jürgen,
I can only offer you partial reassurance on this point. Forte is currently undergoing a transition from a state-run enterprise under a planned economy to a niche supplier.
They were once insolvent, which led to massive staff cuts and a reduction in production capacity; they should now be somewhat better adapted to the micro-market.
However, there is still no money in the sense of capital. That is why deliveries have to be pre-financed, and orders are being accumulated until Forte is back on its feet and can pay for the raw materials.
Somehow, though, it seems to be working out. Not least because our host is playing along with this game, willy-nilly, and the most important exemptions from EU environmental law are in place.
Best regards,
Franz

Jürgen,
I can’t confirm anything like that.
Could you perhaps tell me in more detail what your mate had there?
We only received new order confirmations on Friday with delivery dates at the end of March and the end of April, and fresh stock was also delivered on Thursday.
However, things aren’t quite sorted out in Hungary either.
We’re doing what we can, and you can help too by buying Forte products.
Best regards,
Mirko
