Hello, I want to fit laboratory sinks along the entire width of one wall in my lab. The wall is about 3.80 m wide. How can I go about doing this? Has anyone here ever had something like this made from PVC or stainless steel? Or are there any suitable photo lab models available for this purpose? I imagine it must cost a fortune?

To start with, you could make something like this using a sturdy wooden frame or trough and some pond liner; pond liner is available in large sheets for very little money at DIY stores. It’s not exactly indestructible, but who actually uses a wire brush in the darkroom anyway?

Yes, I’ve thought of something like that too, but if I’m going to start building a great wooden frame, then perhaps I might as well make something proper? Maybe there are reasonably priced laboratory units available, or perhaps I could have one made to order.

Have a look on eBay over a longer period. Specialist laboratories tend to sell off not only their equipment but also their furniture. “Kindermann Beckentisch”, “Meteor Washing/Laborbecken” or simply “Meteor Siegen” would be promising search terms. For example, here’s a current listing on eBay . However, collection is usually required. Best regards, Ulrich

Kindermann’s laboratory models aren’t bad. They’ve been manufactured by them for 30 years without any changes and have sold very well. I’d ask them to send me a catalogue. That way, you can hunt down the right parts on the second-hand market. Of course, you can also buy them new. But be careful! Don’t pay in advance; from what I’ve heard recently, Kindermann is in insolvency proceedings.

I rarely see laboratory tanks on eBay, and when I do, they’re usually pretty grubby.
