Hello,
Does anyone here know if there’s still any film available for the “Rollette”?????
It’s an old folding camera.
It was made around 1920 by the Krauss company in Stuttgart.
The reel is 5 cm wide.
I’d be grateful if anyone could reply :-)
Best wishes, Ilse

...I assume the reel is designed for 127 roll film – and Mirko has that in his range... Measure the width between the reel ends very carefully – it should be 4.7 cm. The total length of the reel – including the reel ends – should be around 5.5 cm for 127 roll film.

From what I’ve found online about the Rolette, it was a 5×8 format camera; the No. 129 film used in it is no longer available today – not even Film for Classics stocks it.
Best regards,

Thanks so much, Wolf and Christian!!!!
I measured it again carefully with a calliper.
It’s 5.8 cm including the axle overhangs and 5.2 cm on the inside.
So the 127 will probably wobble and
I suppose I can forget about using the camera,
as the 129 isn’t available anymore.
What a shame, I would have liked to have given it a go.

...I wouldn’t give up on the idea just yet – anything that wobbles will at least fit in the camera!! A handy DIYer could surely make something work out of it... If you had two 129 reels, you could even rewind a 127 film onto them if you had to. It wouldn’t be particularly convenient, as it would all have to be done in the dark, but it’s better than nothing. Or you could sacrifice a roll of film or a sheet of sheet film, cut out individual negatives and develop them the old-fashioned way in a bowl... A darkroom bag would be helpful for that, though.

Unfortunately, unfortunately I only have one reel...
The cutting bit would be good too, but I’ve never developed negatives in a tray before.
(Only films in Jobo tins) Well, I’ll have to read up on it a bit again :) ....
Thanks for your help!

... I’ve gone ahead and ordered some 127 film after all, and I’ll use one of them for ‘spool adjustment’.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the result myself.
The rewinding itself shouldn’t be a problem.
