Which photo lab would you recommend in Budapest?
Especially for colour (C-41 with prints).
And where can you buy film and chemicals for black and white photography?
MirkoBoeddecker
Since the Forte shop closed down, things haven't been looking too good, unfortunately.
You'll have to head out of the city centre.
I'll have another look into it and get back to you.

What, the Forte shop on Merleg utca isn't there anymore?
MirkoBoeddecker
Forte is no longer in business, and the new owner wanted to specialise in digital cameras.
Stagirit
Are there no other shops in Budapest?
What a shame…

Here’s a suggestion: go to Google Hungary and search for it. If that doesn’t help either, find a Hungarian photography forum and post your question there.
I don’t know if you speak Hungarian – I certainly don’t – but in Hungary there’s bound to be someone reading the forum who speaks Russian, English, French or German, assuming such a lab exists.

Hello Stagirit,
Google.de is fine too and brings up this, amongst other things:
Kodak laboratories in Budapest

Thanks, I’ve got that far myself; I was just hoping for a personal recommendation.
My Hungarian is absolutely terrible.
Nor am I very good at Russian – I grew up on the wrong side of the Wall.
And there are very few Hungarians who can speak English.

How urgent is it? My girlfriend is half-Hungarian (a proper Austro-Hungarian mix :D ), and she has a good friend in Budapest whose boyfriend happens to be a professional fashion photographer, so we could ask him...
Gast
It’s not exactly urgent.
My ex is Hungarian too, but she doesn’t know any photographers in Hungary.
But if you could just ask around, that would be great.
Roman
Yeah, I’ve already got in touch with him to check, but he’s in Bali until the end of the week for a catalogue shoot (SO JEALOUS!!!!) – I’ll give it another go then.

Thanks in advance!

Hello!
Better late than never: this is where my Hungarian friend buys his black-and-white film:
5th district, Váci u. 9/a – ironically, the shop is called DIGILAB.
He doesn’t have any good recommendations for colour film development and prints at the moment either – the lab he used to use has recently closed; he’s currently working digitally for his current catalogue commissions, and he’ll have to start looking around again for an analogue lab.
